Before you start
- Your transactions are in an Excel spreadsheet (.xlsx). Only Excel spreadsheets are accepted.
Step by step
- Open Transactions, check the business shown at the top of the screen, and select Import.
- Choose the account the transactions belong to.
- Select Download Excel template. Fill in one row per transaction: Date, Description, Amount, Transaction Type, and for a cost its Category and Business Use %.
- Drop the finished spreadsheet on the upload area, or click it to browse. It can be the .xlsx, or the template saved as .csv (in Google Sheets: File, Download, then .xlsx or .csv).
- Select Import. Every row is validated first: if any row is invalid, nothing is imported and the errors are listed so you can fix the file and try again.
- The imported transactions appear in the list, ready for your quarterly update.
- Keep the same spreadsheet and upload it again whenever you add rows: rows already imported are recognised and only the new ones are added. If a row looks like a transaction already in EasyTaxer, or would change a quarter you have already sent to HMRC, you are asked before anything is imported.
